I about broke my neck yesterday morning because it was pouring rain on top of a nice coating of ice on our parking lot. I nearly fell five times and finally resorted to shuffling across the parking lot at an embarrassingly slow pace just so I didn't end up breaking my neck.
Then our phones at work went out and stayed out pretty much all day. It was very strange because they've never been out that long before and we all kept reaching for our phones before realizing they weren't working. It's hard to remember when it's something we're so used to having.
The entire Pacific Northwest is in danger of flooding and where my folks and my sister and her family live is getting some of the worst. All the freeways and highways over the Cascade Mountains are closed because of avalanches and I-5 is closed, so western Washington is effectively cut off from everything, unless you've got a boat. It's kind of weird. Some towns are being evacuated entirely and I'm really hoping it doesn't come to that for my folks because they are so infirm, they really have nowhere they can go. Keeping my fingers crossed!
